Abstract

Uterine fibroids are common benign tumors that often necessitates surgical intervention. However, such procedures can result in complications that have a detrimental impact on patient recovery and quality of life. In this review, we sought to identify and assess risk factors associated with surgical complications in the treatment of uterine fibroids. A comprehensive analysis of clinical studies and relevant literature was conducted to explore common complications, including hemorrhage, infection, and damage to surrounding organs. Furthermore, we examined patient-specific risk factors including age, comorbidities, and fibroid characteristics. Based on the findings from the literature, we proposed preventive strategies to mitigate these risks, including preoperative planning, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and enhanced post-operative care protocols. Additionally, tailored surgical approaches and improved perioperative management may help reduce the incidence of complications, improving patient outcomes and quality of life. These conclusions provide actionable insights for clinicians to optimize treatment plans and minimize risks for patients undergoing surgery for uterine fibroids.
