Objective To analyze the case data of emergency trauma patients from May 2018 to May 2023 in a tertiary care hospital in Shenzhen, summarize the regularity of the disease, and provide reference for the development of scientific prevention and control measures for emergency trauma patients. Methods The clinical data of trauma patients who visited our emergency and disaster medical center from May 2018 to May 2023 were collected and grouped according to different criteria such as age, gender, time of injury, site of injury, and cause of injury to analyze the epidemiological regularity. Results A total of 4214 emergency trauma patients were included, including 2609 males (62%) and 1605 females (38%), with significantly more males than females. The age group of emergency trauma patients was mainly concentrated in 19 ~ 45 years old, accounting for 48%, followed by 46 ~ 65 years old, accounting for 35%. The top three sites of trauma were upper limbs in 1659 patients (40%), lower limbs in 1330 patients (32%), and chest in 414 patients (10%). According to the cause of injury, the top 5 were fall injury, heavy object injury, traffic injury, extrusion/roller crush injury and fall injury. Trauma patients were more frequent from April to May and less frequent from January to February each year. Conclusion The majority of emergency trauma patients are male, and the causes and sites of injury have obvious distribution characteristics, which has certain reference significance for formulating effective emergency trauma prevention and control measures.
