Abstract

[Objective] This study aims to explore the clinical outcomes of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) combining meridian-acupoint massage with conventional treatment in infants and young children with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), and to analyze the impact on symptom improvement, hospital stay duration, and family satisfaction. [Methods] A total of 100 infants and young children with CAP admitted between August 2022 and July 2023 were selected. Using a random number table method, they were divided into a control group and an observation group,  with 50 cases in each group. The control group received conventional treatment and nursing care, On this basis, the observation group implemented a multidisciplinary team 's acupoint massage strategy. The clinical efficacy, symptom disappearance time, hospitalization days and family satisfaction were compared between the two groups. [Results] The total effective rate of the observation group was 94.0%, significantly higher than the control group's 78.0% (P<0.05). The disappearance time of fever, cough, pulmonary rales and hospitalization days in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group ( P < 0.05 ).  Family satisfaction in the observation group was 96.0%, significantly higher than the 80.0% in the control group (P<0.05). [Conclusion] Implementing meridian-acupoint massage therapy from a multidisciplinary team can effectively enhance the treatment outcomes for infants and young children with CAP, accelerate symptom resolution, shorten the course of illness, and has clinical promotion value.
